Formula

Flesch Reading Ease = 206.835 − 1.015×(words/sentences) − 84.6×(syllables/words)

FK Grade Level = 0.39×(words/sentences) + 11.8×(syllables/words) − 15.59

Example

Text: "The cat sat on the mat." → 6 words, 1 sentence, 6 syllables → Flesch = 206.835 − 1.015×6 − 84.6×1 = 116 (capped at 100) → Grade Level ≈ 0 (Very Easy).
