How to Use This Calculator
- Enter your monthly views and RPM (find in YouTube Studio → Analytics → Revenue).
- Switch to By Niche for estimates if you don't know your RPM.
- Use By Country to understand how audience location affects earnings.
- The Professional tab adds sponsorships and memberships for total revenue.
Formula
Monthly Revenue = (Monthly Views / 1,000) × RPM
RPM = Total Revenue / (Total Views / 1,000) — after YouTube's 45% cut
Example
500K views/month, $8 RPM: (500,000 / 1,000) × $8 = $4,000/month in ad revenue.
Frequently Asked Questions
- RPM (Revenue Per Mille) is how much you earn per 1,000 video views, after YouTube's 45% cut. It differs from CPM (Cost Per Mille), which is what advertisers pay before YouTube's share. Typical RPM ranges from $1–50 depending on niche and audience.
- At an average RPM of $5, you need 200,000 views/month. Finance creators with $25 RPM only need 40,000 views. Sponsorships can replace or exceed ad revenue at much lower view counts.
- You need 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours in the past 12 months (or 10M Shorts views in 90 days) to join the YouTube Partner Program. Channel must comply with all monetization policies.
- Yes. YouTube Premium subscribers generate revenue based on watch time even without ads. Premium revenue typically adds 5–15% on top of ad revenue depending on audience demographics.
